Maybe something like a Winter Solstice festival. Since you're only having one in winter- I'd suggest something like that, combing the elements of the Harvest Moon New Year with Wishing, Dancing, and possibly gift giving. Like the Thanksgiving Festival- baking of cakes and such.

Though I think small gift giving would be neat. Sort of like secret santas- in order to get people involved. And then maybe some general gift giving- if someone wanted to make something more for a friend.

What do you guys think?

I like the idea.  The idea of baking for a winter Thanksgiving sounds fun as long as people can find a kitchen to bake in if they don't have one (People staying at the inn-unless they talk with the inn keep).

Though Secret Santas can be fun too. ^^

Oooooh, I like that idea as well! It seems combining the festivals have been working out pretty good, so long as the pacing is kept well. With the actually baking of cakes and such, my character Bonnie would be more than happy to bake and sell cakes in her bakery, kinda like how they did it in HM64 with Elli, I'm sure alot of people who can't cook would just rather buy cakes! [sooooo not looking to see how she can cash in on it...]

Secret Santa would be lulz! <3

Well you could also do a white elephant. Which is bringing a gift and then passing it around and ending up with whatever stops with you. That way you don't have to worry about pairs. And if someone doesn't bring a gift they don't participate- simple as that.

I agree that you shouldn't separate the festivals. If people want some privacy, they could always just make a separate thread, yanno? Two weeks is a fair time, unless you got something going on for a week! xD

Like have everyone stand in a circle and make them pass presents?  That could be fun.  Especially since no one will know what their characters are gonna get. ^^

We could do a wishing festival like they did in HM64? Kinda like the boat float but we could make it more wintry themed?

Like... I did something similar at an RP I was at. The villagers went to the biggest tree in the forest (all dead and hibernating, of course), and wrote their wishes on scrolls and then tied them to the tree with ribbons. At the end of the night the tree was all decorated.
Of course, we had a NPC of the Goddess. She came and picked the favorite 3 wishes and granted them. Cheesy

Well that's a pretty cool idea. But two festivals in a row that deal with wishing?

It makes it a cooler idea though with the whole granting wishes thing. Maybe that should happen in more than just one festival. Smiley I like the interactiveness of that.

Well I was just making a suggestion.
You could replace the current wishing festival with that one
or maybe move this one to summer (it was a lot nicer in summer).

I like that idea. Smiley

Honestly I don't mind the wishing factor of the festivals. It's a great idea. I just was hoping since we had so few festivals that each one would be it's own thing.

Including the goddess is a great idea. I definitely think that the HM goddess should be an NPC only the admin should control. I was on a site where one of the administrators controlled the goddess as a PC and it kind of went to her head. She became very power hungry and caused a lot of problems on the forum. The idea of splitting up the NPC roles was such a good idea. Smiley Wish more HM forums thought of it.

On ours the goddess, mermaid (Leia), Kappa AND the sprites were all NPCs.

We had a pretty crazy run with them, lots of plot events and stuff. It was pretty fun!

well Irbe said that this festival, the way it was done, was an experiment to help decide how future festivals might be held, keep the suggestions coming :3
